1. Who we are

SchoolBind is a school–parent communication platform. Schools use it to manage classes, attendance, homework, notices, and messaging. Parents and teachers use the mobile app. Website visitors may send an enquiry about the product.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use SchoolBind, we may process:

• Account details — name, mobile number, email (if provided), role (parent, teacher, staff, school admin), school association, and login credentials (passwords are stored hashed; OTP codes are stored hashed and expire quickly).
• School and student records entered by the school — class, section, admission number, attendance, homework, fees notes, announcements, messages, and similar school operations data.
• Content you create — messages, feed posts, polls, lost & found listings, notes, feedback, and images you upload.
• Device & technical data — app version, device type/platform, push notification tokens (when enabled), IP address (hashed for public website enquiries), and basic server logs needed for security and reliability.
• Website enquiries — name, school name, city, phone, and message when you use the interest form on our website.

We do not require parents to share payment card details in the app for standard school communication features.

3. How we use information

• Provide and operate the SchoolBind service for the school that enrolled you.
• Authenticate users (password and/or SMS OTP where enabled).
• Send operational alerts and, when configured, push notifications.
• Respond to website enquiries and support requests.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve reliability.
• Create backups so schools can recover from data loss.

We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not show parent phone numbers to other parents in a shared chat group; messaging is role-scoped through the school.

4. Who can see your data

• Your school’s authorised staff (school admin, teachers, staff) see student and parent information needed for school operations, according to permissions set by the school.
• Parents see information related to their linked children and school communications meant for them.
• SchoolBind operators (super admin) may access platform settings, support tools, enquiry leads, and system logs to run and secure the service.
• Service providers that help us run SchoolBind — for example hosting (servers/database), and SMS delivery for OTP when enabled. They process data only to provide those services.

5. Legal bases & school responsibility

Schools decide what student and parent data to enter and are responsible for having a lawful reason to use SchoolBind with their community (for example consent or legitimate interest under applicable Indian law). If you are a parent and have questions about why the school uses the app, contact your school as well as us.

6. Retention

We keep account and school data while the school’s subscription or pilot is active and as needed for backups, legal, or security purposes. Schools may request deletion or export of their data by emailing support@schoolbind.com. Website enquiry records may be kept to follow up with schools that contacted us. OTP records and temporary security logs are kept only for a limited time.

7. Security

We use industry-common safeguards such as HTTPS, hashed passwords, role-based access, and (where used) hashed OTP codes and hashed IPs for public forms. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect data and improve controls over time.

8. Children’s data

SchoolBind processes student information on behalf of schools. The app is intended for parents, teachers, and school staff accounts. Children should use the service only as directed by their school or parents.

9. Your choices

• Update your profile details in the app or via your school admin where available.
• Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold.
• Disable push notifications in your device settings.
• Stop using the website enquiry form; optional fields should not be used to send sensitive health or payment data.

10. International processing

Servers and subprocessors may be located in India or other countries where our hosting providers operate. By using SchoolBind, you understand that information may be processed in those locations with appropriate safeguards where required.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the product grows. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more visible notice where appropriate.
